I would be interested in knowing the patient’s travel history, and whether they have any contact with livestock. Another key point in the history would be whether there is respiratory distress (e.g. Loffler’s syndrome) or jaundice (ascaris can cause biliary obstruction). I would send a stool smear for OCP, and treat empirically with mebendazole.

treated a number of cases of this when working with MSF in East Africa. some patients would bring the worms that they passed
