During evening handover a junior colleague tells you about their patient. They are a 56-year-old male who your colleague feels has AWS. He presented as his family were concerned he was increasingly confused and his mobility has deteriorated. His only past medical history is of alcohol excess. He last drank this morning and drinks 1 litre of vodka per day.
He has had basic bloods done which were unremarkable and has had IV pabrinex and 10mg of oral diazepam. He is due to go up to a medical ward shortly and your colleague is simply letting you know about him in case of any issues in the interim.
