A 14-year-old girl attends the emergency department following a fall whilst ice skating. She describes a mechanism whereby the injured ankle was plantar flexed and everted. She was unable to weight bear immediately after the injury and remains non weight bearing in the Emergency Department (ED).
On examination, she is unable to move the injured ankle. An x-ray is performed and is shown below:

Tricky one
Can be much more subtle than this on x-ray so can be missed
rare fracture to bear in mind in the adolescent group, whom I see in practice, interesting to note higher incidence in boys
