Management

Although the majority of patients presenting to the ED with red eye can be managed by the emergency physicial alone, significant doubt regarding the diagnosis or failure of the patient to respond to previous treatment should prompt a second opinion. This can be obtained from either a senior clinician or an ophthalmologist.
