Pneumothorax /Haemothorax
Air/blood in the pleural space may be difficult to see on supine trauma film. Signs of an ‘occult’ pneumothorax are:
- Deep sulcus sign
- Crisp cardiac outline
- Pleural line
Haemothorax forms a diffuse hazy shadowing behind the supine lung.
The x-ray shows an erect haemo-pneumothorax (stabbed).
