A 34-year-old woman presents to the emergency department (ED) with a 3-day history of worsening vision in her right eye. Vision in the right eye is described as cloudy and it is associated with pain behind the right eye, which is worse on eye movement. There is no history of trauma.
On examination the right eye has reduced visual acuity, a relative afferent pupillary defect (RAPD), and impaired colour vision. Examination of the left eye is unremarkable.
