Writing an Abstract

Over the next five pages you are going to write a brief abstract of the paper you’ve just critically appraised, using the following IMRAD headings.

• Introduction – why did they do the trial?
• Methods – how did they do it?
• Results – what did they find?
• Analysis – what did they think this meant?
• Discussion – should you be using this treatment or not?
