Case 2

You are the doctor in the Emergency Department awaiting the arrival of a patient involved in a diving incident. The pre-alert information you have is as below and you are waiting for the patient to arrive via ambulance.

A 40-year-old female became separated from her buddy on early ascent from 27 metres. She was found by her buddy near surface, face down with her regulator out of her mouth.

She received CPR for ten minutes by dive centre staff while awaiting paramedic team arrival. When the paramedics arrived she had a good pulse and GCS 3. She was intubated and finger thoracostomy inserted.
