Any patient with infection around the eyes should be advised to refrain from wearing contact lenses or eye make-up until it has completely resolved.
Consideration should be given to the management of any predisposing condition (e.g. sinusitis), which may need treatment and, occasionally, separate referral and follow-up.
Minor eye infections should not cause a significant change in visual acuity. Patients should be counselled to seek urgent review if this develops.
