Epidiomiology- 5% of paediatric population. Mean age of onset 7yo in boys, 11yo in girls. Family history of migraines usually present. [1]
Signs/Symptoms:
Infants- head banging, abdominal pain, vomiting
Children- aura (1/3 of pt), bitemporal/frontal headache, vomiting, symptoms usually lasting 1-72 hours, photo/phono-phobia, abdominal cramping, need to sleep.
Examination & Investigations- usually normal, abnormal findings should raise suspicion of alternate diagnosis.
