Disposition

Patients with mild hypothermia who respond to passive rewarming can usually be discharged from the ED.

Patients with severe hypothermia need to be admitted to a high-dependency or intensive care unit.

The disposition of patients with moderate hypothermia will depend on the patient’s age, comorbidity, social situation and response to ED treatment.
