Case

It’s midnight and you have just seen a 65-year-old man who you have diagnosed with a STEMI. He has been treated with high flow oxygen for the past hour by the ambulance crew as his saturations were 94%. He is now saturating at 100%. An arterial blood gas obtained shows a PaO2 of 16 kPa. You wonder if this has caused patient harm.
