Stimulating the Dopamine Receptors

Drugs that stimulate dopamine receptors include:

  • Bromocriptine
  • Pergolide

These drugs are used most frequently when symptoms are relatively mild or in younger patient.

Dopamine-stimulating drugs are not associated with the long-term motor side effects of levodopa.

Dopamine-stimulating drugs are considered to be relatively less effective than levodopa.
