Context

Pelvic fractures are one of the potentially life-threatening injuries identified during primary survey of patients with major trauma. A pelvic fracture can result in significant blood loss that is difficult to control and can lead to death if not managed appropriately. Early suspicion, identification and management of pelvic fractures in the Emergency Department are essential for reducing blood loss and to decrease mortality.
