Clinical Case 6 Part 1

Felicity is a 42-year-old who attends ED with her husband, Simon.  Felicity has had a productive cough for several days and now has a raised temperature.

Blood tests and a CXR, show that she has a chest infection.   She scores 10/10 on AMTS.

Simon tells you that his wife takes lithium for bipolar disorder, but he isn’t sure if she has been taking it recently.

You tell Felicity that she has a chest infection, that she will need oral antibiotics to treat it and that she can go home.  However, she refuses the drugs, saying that “God will cure me”.
