Oesophageal Injury

Oesophageal injury is a breach in the oesophagus.  It is rare, usually a ballistic injury, and likely to be missed clinically and radiologically.

Other injuries may predominate clinically e.g. a neck stabbing with tracheal and vascular disruption.

Operative repair or endoluminal stenting is at the discretion of surgeons and should be considered in the context of associated injuries.
