Angled Reflective Interfaces

Reflective interfaces that lie at an angle may not be demonstrated clearly, as the reflected pulse is directed away from the transducer. It may be necessary to scan from a different angle.

The 1st image below shows an angled reflective interface.

The 2nd image below shows that 'critical angle shadowing’ is often generated by the edges of structures and is seen in this image distal to the lower pole of the kidney. Click the clinical image to see a larger version.
