Site Structure & Governance

RCEMLearning operates as a collaborative digital education platform supported by clinicians, educators, and digital specialists. Its structure is designed to ensure strong governance, high editorial standards, and a responsive approach to emerging clinical priorities.

Platform structure

The platform’s learning resources are organised to help clinicians quickly find material aligned to their needs:

  • Clinical education – blogs, podcasts, learning sessions, clinical cases

  • Assessment preparation – SBA questions, exam-focused modules, Primary resources

  • Continuing Professional Development – activities aligned to curriculum requirements

  • Reference – point-of-care tools, guidance, and supporting resources

This structure supports efficient navigation for learning, exam preparation, and clinical decision-making.

Editorial governance

Content development is overseen by a network of experienced clinicians and specialty editors who:

  • Identify priority learning needs

  • Commission and develop new material

  • Review content for accuracy and relevance

  • Update resources in line with evolving guidance and evidence

These editors are supported by RCEMLearning reviewers, a group of trained volunteer reviewers who play a crucial role in reviewing older content to ensure it remains current and clinically safe.

Quality assurance

All educational material follows a defined development and review pathway. Content is informed by curriculum requirements, guideline updates, user feedback, and usage analytics to ensure ongoing relevance and impact.

Operational support

The RCEMLearning team manages platform functionality, user experience, and ongoing technical updates. Strategic oversight is provided through the RCEM e-Learning Committee, ensuring RCEMLearning aligns with wider College priorities for clinical education and professional development.

Through this combined clinical and digital governance, RCEMLearning aims to deliver high-quality educational resources that are robust, relevant, and trusted across the Emergency Medicine community.
